Sheffield City Airport has closed and been redeveloped into a business park. The airport never quite made it owing to its limited plane capacity (too short a runway) and competition from nearby airports.

ROBIN HOOD DONCASTER SHEFFIELD AIRPORT
A new airport to this area is the "Robin Hood Doncaster Sheffield Airport" and is located at the former RAF base at Finningley.

This airport has a long runway due to previously handling RAF aircraft and is offering longer distance flights than the old original Sheffield City Airport could.
